A Warm Welcome To Our New Dental Practice In Bedford

A Warm Welcome To Our New Dental Practice In Bedford

An introduction to our treatments and facilities.

Welcome to the new blog of The Dental Centre Bedford. In future blogs, we will look at individual dental treatments, what they consist of and how they can help you. We will also look at any relevant news in the world of dentistry which patients may find of interest, along with answering typical questions we regularly receive from patients.

For our first blog post though, we thought we would offer a glimpse into the benefits of cosmetic dentistry offered to our patients in the Bedford area. We are pleased to provide a wide selection of the latest treatments, from a simple teeth whitening procedure, through to advanced dental implants.

Whiter teeth

Teeth whitening is one of the most popular cosmetic dental treatments of all. Both fast acting and affordable, it is the easiest way for many people to improve the appearance of their smile. However, where teeth are very badly stained, or have suffered from chips and cracks, dental veneers may be a more effective procedure. This involves replacing a fine layer of the affected surface of the tooth with an equivalent thickness of porcelain which is then trimmed and polished to give a natural appearance.

Dental Implants

One of the greatest advances in dentistry is perhaps the use of dental implants to replace missing teeth. Whilst dentures and bridges can be used for this purpose too, dental implants offer a unique method which not only offers a realistic looking replacement tooth, but one that is extremely strong and secure and can last for twenty years or longer.

We will look at the specifics of this procedure in a future blog, so please watch this space.

Cerec

Although not a treatment in itself, the use of Cerec is highly beneficial for our patients. Where a dental crown, veneer, onlay or inlay is needed, most dentists will take impressions and send these to a dental laboratory for production. This often means a wait of a week or two for the patient, and necessitates two visits to the practice.

At The Dental Centre Bedford, we take digital scans of the tooth and feed the information into the Cerec system. The restoration is then produced from a single block of porcelain and is ready for the patient within approximately one hour. Recent studies have also indicated that crowns and veneers produced in the manner can actually last longer than those produced in laboratories.

Hopefully this brief introduction has whetted your appetite to read subsequent blogs of ours and, if you have a topic that you would like us to cover, please do let us know.
