Too many wrinkles?

One of the most common visible signs of ageing are the wrinkles that start to appear on our face long before we notice the aching bones of our later years. These wrinkles can be a real giveaway as to how old we are; something that many of us would prefer to hide. Certain actions such as using moisturising creams and making sure that we stay well hydrated by drinking plenty of water can help of course, but no one escapes wrinkles unfortunately. If we spend a lot of time outdoors, and especially in hotter weather, these wrinkles may well be more pronounced.

Anti wrinkle treatments are well-established and despite some of the ‘horror stories’ you may have seen in the media, is a safe and effective method when it is carried out by experienced practitioners such as ours. It is more than likely that most treatments that go wrong are either carried out incorrectly by someone untrained or inexperienced, or the result of an unethical approach to attain a more exaggerated effect. These techniques work by relaxing muscles that cause our skin to start to wrinkle. It is applied via a small injection just beneath the skin in the areas where treatment is required. Most commonly, these areas include around the eyes (sometimes referred to as ‘crow’s feet’) and on the forehead. Within a few days you should start to see the wrinkles easing, with the full effect being seen after around a fortnight. The effects often last for four months and sometimes as many as six. The treatment can be repeated as often as you wish.

Thinning lips and sagging cheeks

It isn’t just wrinkled skin that can make us look older than we would like. As the years pass by, we lose some of the natural collagen in our facial tissue that can make our lips appear thinner than they used to and can also cause our cheeks to start to sag a little.

To reverse this effect, dermal fillers such as ‘Juvederm’ can be used to replace the lost collagen. This will quickly plump up your lips again and firm up your cheeks, giving you a much younger appearance. Once again, please don’t be put off by instances of ‘trout pout’ that you might have seen some celebrities suffer from; you are in experienced hands with our clinical team.

Dermal fillers are not only an effective way of achieving a younger look but are also long lasting and you should expect the results to last for between nine months and a year.
